At the 21st Kwita Izina Gorilla Naming Ceremony, Rwanda will introduce and name the newest members of its mountain gorilla families.
Each baby represents new life and continued hope for the future of this endangered species. Their births also reflect the commitment of the communities, park rangers, researchers, veterinarians and conservation partners who work throughout the year to protect mountain gorillas and their habitat.
The profiles of the baby mountain gorillas to be named in 2026, including their families, mothers, birth dates and unique characteristics, will be announced ahead of the ceremony.
