What’s Happening at Kwita Izina 2026

Kwita Izina 2026 will feature a programme of conservation, tourism, community and cultural experiences surrounding the Gorilla Naming Ceremony.

Community Project Launch

The launch will highlight community-led initiatives supported through Rwanda’s Tourism Revenue Sharing Programme and demonstrate how conservation and tourism contribute to livelihoods around the country’s national parks.

Across Rwanda

International media, influencers, tour operators and tourism partners will experience Rwanda’s national parks, cultural heritage, cities and communities, sharing the country’s tourism and conservation story with audiences around the world.

Namer Mountain Gorilla Trekking Experience

Distinguished Namers will trek through Volcanoes National Park to encounter mountain gorillas and meet the baby gorillas they will have the honour of naming.

21st Kwita Izina Gorilla Naming Ceremony

The flagship ceremony will bring together communities, conservation partners, distinguished Namers and invited guests to name Rwanda’s newest baby mountain gorillas and celebrate the country’s conservation journey.
